Our beeswax bread bag features a thoughtful two-layer design. The outer layer is made from a linen-cotton blend for breathability, while the inner layer is made from pure cotton with a natural beeswax coating to preserve freshness. This carefully selected combination provides the perfect balance between breathability and moisture retention, helping to maintain freshness.
The beeswax bowl cover is designed for dough proofing, but is also excellent for other purposes, such as covering salad bowls or storing leftovers.
MATERIALS & DESIGN
- Bread bag outer material: 45% linen + 55% cotton — a carefully balanced blend for optimal breathability. Linen is a high-quality natural fibre valued for its excellent breathability and luxurious feel. Our tests have shown that this blend is more breathable than 100% cotton, helping to reduce moisture build-up and create a less favourable environment for mould growth.
- Bread bag lining: 100% natural, undyed cotton — deeply saturated with our beeswax blend for a flexible and durable finish. Unlike a simple surface coating, the wax is worked deep into the fabric, helping to prevent stiffness, wrinkling and peeling with repeated use.
- Bowl cover: 100% natural cotton saturated with our beeswax blend, with elastic.
THOUGHTFUL DETAILS
Zipper with a “Smooth-Glide” finish and a crumb-free design with concealed seams. Our specially developed zipper construction minimises the gaps that occur with conventional closures, helping to prevent crumbs and dust from accumulating around the opening.
SIZE & NET WEIGHT
- Bread bag: 30.5 × 43 cm (12 × 17 in) / approx. 165 g — extra large to comfortably accommodate even generously sized loaves.
- Bowl cover: 20-28 cm (10 in) diameter (flexible) / approx. 25 g — ideal for proofing dough in the refrigerator and for general dough proofing, with a secure fit on most standard mixing bowls.

The natural water-repellent properties of beeswax help retain moisture in your bread while keeping unwanted moisture out, creating a breathable storage environment. Beeswax also has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties, making it a clean and natural choice for everyday use.
Beeswax naturally contains propolis, a protective substance that bees produce from tree resin, wax and pollen to help keep the hive strong and free from germs.

I have a few different beeswax bread bags and this style with the zipper and folding top with Velcro keeps my baked goods fresh the longest. Normally we’d see extreme drying or sometimes mold about 3-5 days, but this bag keeps stuff fresh and soft going about a week and a half.
